Spanning three city blocks, Antelope Valley Union Park Plaza combines flood control infrastructure with a vibrant public gathering space. The project incorporates a meandering waterway with multiple pedestrian crossings and was constructed using sustainable design elements. Key features include public art installations, three fountains, a large plaza, a scenic overlook, a playground, and an amphitheater with seating for 200. Paved trails connect the plaza to the city’s existing system, enhancing accessibility and connectivity.
The park is equipped to host festivals and events, with amenities such as restrooms, seating, audio and power sources, recycling and trash receptacles, and lighting. At its center is the two-story Jayne Snyder Trails Center, a hub for trail users that offers public meeting space, restrooms, retail space, and offices for a local community health organization.
