Following a devastating tornado in 2022, the Castlewood School District faced significant challenges in restoring its school facilities. After initial emergency construction efforts, Hausmann was brought in as Construction Manager at Risk to stabilize and complete the build.
The project includes an 18,000-square-foot addition featuring a new gymnasium, theatre stage, classrooms, storage areas, and restrooms, along with approximately 20,000 square feet of renovations to existing spaces. Renovation work upgrades classrooms, restrooms, and locker rooms, while transforming the former gymnasium and stage into new classroom space and a student cafeteria. Key milestones were achieved early, including the turnover of renovated classroom space ahead of schedule in May, allowing teachers to move equipment before summer break.
Beyond the construction scope, the project rebuilt trust and pride within a tight-knit community. The team maintained steady communication through a superintendent transition mid-project and became active participants in the community. That commitment helped restore confidence, strengthen relationships, and deliver a project the community is proud to call its own.
