Colorado State University Chiropteran Resource Facility

This project is the new construction of a 14,000-square-foot stand-alone bat vivarium and research facility, designed as an extension of Colorado State University’s Center for Vector-Borne Infection Diseases. The state-of-the-art facility incorporates advanced environmental and biosafety controls to support the successful breeding and rearing of bats, crucial for research and scientific advancement.

The building features structural masonry construction with comprehensive thermal and moisture protection systems, ensuring a controlled environment tailored to the unique needs of its inhabitants. The innovative design includes an open-caging concept for animal housing, promoting optimal habitat conditions and facilitating research activities. This specialized facility serves as a key resource for advancing knowledge in vector-borne disease studies.
