Wayne State College Athletic & Recreation Complex

Wayne,

This four-phase project enhances Wayne State College’s athletic and recreation facilities through a combination of new construction and renovation. At the heart of the project is a new 108,000-square-foot air-supported structure featuring a 300-meter synthetic track, a pole vault box, a jumping pit, and two throw circles with safety cages. The infield includes multi-functional artificial turf with perimeter protective netting and four hitting cages for baseball, softball, and golf.

Dedicated golf practice space covers 2,200 square feet and includes a putting green, chipping surface, and fairway turf with nets. The facility also features new locker rooms for the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs.

Phase I focused on constructing the indoor football practice field with a surrounding track. Phase II added adjacent program areas, including new locker rooms and a connecting link between the new and existing facilities. Phase III introduced an 18,000-square-foot addition to improve circulation and create new lobbies that tie into approximately 8,000 square feet of strength, cardio, and weight training areas. Phase IV included renovations to 42,000 square feet of the existing student recreation center, upgrading locker rooms, finishes, and MEP systems. Site improvements were also part of the overall scope.
