For West Lyon Community School, Hausmann served as Construction Manager at Risk for the first K–12 Construction Manager at Risk project in the State of Iowa—setting a precedent for collaborative public construction under new enabling legislation.
The project included more than 84,000 square feet of renovation and expansion to an actively occupied school, delivered without relocating students and with uninterrupted school operations throughout construction. Scope highlights included the district’s first 727-seat auditorium, a new main entry, a bus barn, renovated classrooms, a new weight room, and extensive building-wide upgrades to HVAC, lighting, and mechanical systems.
The project achieved substantial completion ahead of the original milestone, allowing the District to occupy new spaces sooner, host its Christmas concert in the new auditorium, and celebrate the facility with a dedication ceremony. Across the project, Hausmann met every phased turnover milestone—five to six incremental handoffs that kept the school fully operational throughout construction—providing facilities that align with the district’s long-term vision for students and staff.
